Dr. Abigail Kitchens, DVM

Veterinarian. AKC Breeder of Merit. Standard Poodle obsessive.

Based in Tullahoma, Tennessee, with a breeding program built on transparency, rigorous health testing, and Puppy Culture socialization from day one. I practice emergency and critical care veterinary medicine overnight — which means I understand what diseases look like, how they progress, and why prevention and early detection matter.

That background shapes every decision I make in this program. I don't breed for volume. I breed intentionally — pairing health-tested dogs with complementary genetics and proving them in the show ring, on the agility course, and in daily life.

Enzo Goes to the Obstacle Course

The One World Canine Obstacle Course isn't a sport for the faint of heart. Mud pits, water jumps, logs over water, tunnels — handlers and dogs go through it together. Enzo didn't hesitate for a second.

Phillip, Logan, Aden, and Zena

This isn't a kennel. It's a home. The dogs sleep with us, play with our kids, and are deeply embedded in every part of our daily life.

Our oldest son Logan is deaf, and Zena — our foundation female — is his service dog. She came from our own breeding program, was trained by our family, and is his constant companion and working partner. When we talk about breeding Standard Poodles with the right temperament, Zena is what we're aiming for.

Aden, our youngest, grows up alongside the puppies. Kids in the whelping box is not a disruption in our house. It is socialization.

What Urban Hero Poodles Is Actually About

Standard Poodles are one of the most intelligent, capable, and genuinely joyful dogs that exist. They deserve breeders who take that seriously.

We health test because we've seen what hip dysplasia looks like on the operating table. We use Puppy Culture because we've seen what proper socialization does for a dog's entire life trajectory. We match carefully because we've seen what happens when a high-drive working dog goes to a family who wanted a relaxed companion, or a low-drive family dog goes to someone who wanted a sport prospect.

We don't breed litters to fill demand. We breed litters we've planned for, with dogs we've health tested, matched for complementary genetics, and believe will produce something exceptional.

Our job is not to sell you a puppy. Our job is to find the right puppy for your family — and send them home with everything they need to thrive.
